Security:
When it comes to Security, it is obvious that the system is only as strong as the weakest link in the chain. Three factors that figure in most security considerations are Authentication, Authorization and Auditing. With Authentication one can be confident of both the identity of the sender and the integrity of the message. Authorization usually involves User name and Password. Auditing useful logged information on user access enables assigning responsibility for user actions. The goal is to have a cloud HMI that is secure enough for everyday use while exhibiting reasonable performance and reliability characteristics.
Simplicity:
Ease of Use and intuitiveness of the user interface are essential for user acceptance. Building a complex fortress chock full of functionality is futile if user acceptance is lacking.
Speed:
Get your HMI screens updated in seconds, typically 5 seconds. Of course, the speed depends on Internet connection speeds, latency and network traffic. Mobile Smartphones with expensive data plans or limited bandwidth may require slower update times (30 secs). Faster speeds are possible with available ‘Dedicated GoToMyHMI Server’ option

All connections and transactions from any standard browser (iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Smartphone, Tablets, etc.,) are encrypted (256 bit encryption). All remote browser access to your HMI servers are access controlled by your policy.
Setting Up
GoToMyHMI is a secure site that you can trust. All connections from your browser (iPhone, iPAD, Android, BlackBerry, Smartphone, Laptop PC, etc.), are protected with 256-bit SSL encryption.
Setting up cloud access to InstantHMI is as easy as 1-2-3:
1. Install 'Cloud Ready' InstantHMI 6.0 and develop HMI as usual.
2. Subscribe to GoToMyHMI Service (Monitor/Alarm/Control).
3. Setup User Names and Passwords for 'Cloud Access'.access.

Q1. Is GoToMyHMI Secure?
A1: GoToMyHMI is a certified secure site. All connections and transactions from any standard browser (iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, Smartphone, Tablets, etc.,) are encrypted (256 bit encryption). All remote browser access to your HMI servers are access controlled by your policy. Your Admin will setup User Names, Passwords and other access parameters including alarm access, data entry access, etc. Your tag database does not go beyond your firewall. Only the permitted data encrypted graphically is accessed from the browser. No communication protocol request/response strings are traceable beyond your firewall.
Q2. What are the advantages of GoToMyHMI over VNC?
A2: VNC stands for Virtual Network Computing. According to its creators it was conceived as an ultra-thin client system based on a simple display protocol that is platform-independent. The RFB (Remote Frame Buffer) protocol in VNC may be implemented at different levels of complexity. Regardless of the level of complexity of the underlying display protocol VNC is a client-server setup that requires installation of the server software on the HMI-Server end and the client software on the browser end. (The client software may be a Java-capable browser.)
VNC clients require an inbound connection to the VNC server for remote access. This would entail firewall configuration to permit such an inbound connection or a VPN (Virtual Private Network) setup. GoToMyHMI Cloud Nodes do NOT require any inbound connection, so firewall configuration to accept inbound connection to the HMI-Server behind the firewall is not required.
